This should be harmless, it should only matter for subtitle streams
(which we don't support yet).

This is harmless. Happens with old gnome-power-manager versions.

This is also fine (besides the typo in 'fakesink' and the ugliness of
the probing in the first place).

There could be a number of reasons for this behaviour, many of which are
already fixed in current GStreamer releases or CVS (mostly elements from
-base and -ugly)

If you're not afraid of the hassle, it would be great if you could build
a GStreamer stack from CVS and thoggen from SVN and see if the problem
is still present there. This can be done by using an 'uninstalled' local
build that doesn't affect the rest of your system [0], but probably
involves installing quite a few -dev packages ('apt-get build-dep
libgstreamer0.10-0 gstreamer0.10-plugins-base gstreamer0.10-plugins-good
gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad' will give you an
idea).

Cheers
