Given that the various servers in a round-robin have no guarantee to be in sync, insisting on always accessing the same ip address may avoid a number of problem during an update run.
Of course, I don't think there should be published dns round-robins which can get out of sync. Round-robin suggests the servers are equivalent, and around 4 hours out of the day, they usually aren't.
