Package: tracker Version: 0.5.4-3 Severity: wishlist There are 2 main cases I saw where one (or at least I) would expect tracker to forget about some files, but it doesn't:
- When you remove a file when it is not running. That may happen in a lot of occasions, but yet, when you start trackerd again and search for a keyword corresponding to the file you deleted, it still appears as a result. When the file is removed when trackerd is running, no problem. - When you add directories to exclude in the configuration. Typically, the first time I tried trackerd, I let it do my whole $HOME. After a night of indexing, it was still indexing, and $HOME/.Tracker was roughly 500MB large. And it didn't seem to be halfway to finish. So I added exclusions for the directories I keep my debian packages sources in, pbuilder directory, ccache cache directory, etc. I would have expected tracker to forget about these files. But yet, when I tracker-search iceweasel, I still get a bunch of files from the iceweasel source. The second is a less important issue I think, but the first one is a must. It should at least check if files it gives as result still exist.
