The current version has several important bugs that have been corrected
in the latest upstream version (1.8.8h). These are:
1) It contains some major bugfixes in the plugin system. The plugin
system in version 1.8.8c as broken causing it to be rendered completely
useless if you use more than one plugin or when newer type plugins are
used.
2) It contains an improvement/fix that errors and warnings get send to
stderr, were version 1.8.8c sends this to stdout.
3) Some cosmetic fixes/improvements.
4) The order of some variables in the config-file was changed (the MODEM
& LAN sections are swapped), causing MODEM_INTERNAL_NET="$INTERNAL_NET"
not to work as INTERNAL_NET wasn't specified yet . This is a regression
bug that was introduced some around version 1.8.8c.
The latest upstream version (1.8.8h) has been extensively tested and
currently has no pending bug (reports). I therefor strongly recommend to
sync the current Etch version (1.8.8c) with the latest upstream version
(1.8.8h).
