hald-addon-hid-ups eats up all the memory. It allocates a 4KB page every
40-60 secs. There is an APC UPS attached to the USB port.
The UPS reports the remaining power every 10-15 secs but I don't know if
that is relevant.
I am using Debian Etch updated occasionally. (hal and dbus are updated
daily because of this problem)
