Oh, sorry, my fault. I was sure I had ~/bin/ first in my path, but it's last, and it continued to use the a2ping from /usr/bin/ All is well if I actually use the new version. I think we'll include it in the new packages for texlive 2007 (which still has the version from CTAN, I guess you'll upload to CTAN soon, too?)
