Package: xbase-clients
Version: 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10
Followup-For: Bug #299370

I made gnome autostart from gdm. When the X-server came up it displayed
the following error:
(Translated from Swedish, because of this the english wording might be
different)

Error activating the xkb-configuration
.
.
.
Please provide the following information:
xprop -root | grep XKB
gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/xkb

The requested information is found here:

_XKB_RULES_NAMES_BACKUP(STRING) = "xfree86", "pc105", "se", "", ""
_XKB_RULES_NAMES(STRING) = "xfree86", "pc105", "se", "", ""

 layouts = [us]
 model = pc105
 overrideSettings = false
 options = []
 update_handlers = []

This is definately not what I have in my XF86Config-4 file:

Section "InputDevice"
        Identifier      "Generic Keyboard"
        Driver          "keyboard"
        Option          "CoreKeyboard"
        Option          "XkbRules"      "sun"
        Option          "XkbModel"      "type5"
        Option          "XkbLayout"     "se"
        Option          "XkbKeycodes"   "sun(type5_se)"
        Option          "XkbGeometry"   "sun(type5_se)"
EndSection

So there seems to be a problem with the setxkbmap command. It might also be a
problem with that some files are missing. This is the data in the
gdm-log-file:

syntax error: line 1 of stdin
Errors encountered in stdin; not compiled.
Couldn't load XKB keymap, falling back to pre-XKB keymap
