Although this entry may not be as insightful as it could have been, it is an important notification putting a close to a long thread http://lists.debian.org/debian-ruby/2005/01/msg00005.html and much complaining in the (Debian) Ruby community: (Almost) all Ruby standard libraries are now available under one package in Debian -> libruby1.8, and that there is no longer need for installing them separately.
