Is this a feature request?

Having a possibility to override the settings in the repo is a
really useful thing. Think origDir location which could be
"../tarballs" in the repo, but you might want it to be
"/var/cache/tarballs".

Probably a better thing would be to have an option that would allow
reimporting/merging the current layout info from the places you
suggested and a possibility to specify which source is prioritary.

OTOH, this seems to be overdesign...
