Package: ion3
Version: 20050304-1-1
Severity: minor

The statusbar by default checks $MAIL for mail; since it actually
counts new mail rather than just looking at the access time of the
file, the access time is updated which means that mail readers such as
Mutt won't display the mailbox as having new mail anyway. I don't
particularly like this, but I realize that I have to live with this if
I want the statusbar, and indeed the indication on the statusbar is
kinda neat.

However, it also checks for new mail even when ion is not actually
active because a screensaver is running (xlock from the xlockmore
package in my case). When I'm at work, I leave my laptop at home and
log in via SSH. In this case, I don't have the indication from the
statusbar and then it sucks that Mutt won't show the mail box as
having new messages.

IMHO the mail check script should not check for new mail when ion3 is
not actually active because I'm running a screensaver.
