Erm... apparently, rebooting the machine solved the problem: Iceweasel doesn't crash anymore on opening preferences. Nothing else changed. Sorry for the hassle. Feel free to close the bug or to ask me for other informations, at your leisure. Just for the record, it all started while I was investigating why mozilla-plugin-vlc was crashing bot Iceweasel and Galeon every *second* time I loaded a file managed by the plugin (any file, be it the same file or different files). At a point, the crash-on-second-load was not so regular anymore (it may crash after more than two files) and the crash-on-preference introduces itself. This morning, on reboot, the preference crashes disappeared, but the VLC plugin (more or less regularly) keeps crashing after two (or more) load/unload cycles. Who know what happened in between. But this will be the subject of another, (I hope) properly documented bug report. Thank you and sorry again.
