Strange. This could be because of an error in the command you used: the 
dpkg-query needs a "| cut -f1".
I just found it is possible to check if packages are marked using:
search 'i~M <package name>'

I see that you did not install libfam0 together with initrd-tools and 
xlibmesa-glu even though you did have libfam0c102 installed. This could 
explain that.
