I'm not convinced that this is a bug in glipper. (First you say it is,
then you say it is an i2e bug.)

I'm re-assigning and merging this with an existing bug report in i2e.
i2e should not fail just because other applications have created a
non-blank clipboard. There are better ways of noticing if text has been
entered in a text box that are completely independent of the clipboard.
