Thanks for your bugreport. > I was wondering if you could consider changing this dependency so synaptic > depends > on gksu|kdebase-bin. > > My point is: I don't need gksu. The problem is here that the synaptic desktop file has "gksu" hardcoded. That means that I have the choices: a) depend on "gksu" and make kde people unhappy b) recommend "gksu" and get lot's of bugreports why synaptic does not start (from people that don't have gksu installed) c) use depends: gksu|kdebase-bin and have a seperate desktop file for kde. I think I'll go with c) Cheers, Michael > Thanks. > > -- System Information: > Debian Release: 3.1 > APT prefers testing > APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (100, 'unstable') > Architecture: i386 (i686) > Kernel: Linux 2.6.7 > Locale: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] (charmap=ISO-8859-15) (ignored: > LC_ALL set to [EMAIL PROTECTED]) > > Versions of packages synaptic depends on: > ii apt [libapt-pkg-libc6.3- 0.5.28.1 Advanced front-end for dpkg > ii gksu 1.2.2-1 graphical frontend to su > ii libatk1.0-0 1.8.0-4 The ATK accessibility toolkit > ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-20 GNU C Library: Shared libraries > an > ii libfontconfig1 2.3.1-2 generic font configuration > library > ii libfreetype6 2.1.7-2.3 FreeType 2 font engine, shared > lib > ii libgcc1 1:3.4.3-6 GCC support library > ii libglade2-0 1:2.4.2-2 library to load .glade files at > ru > ii libglib2.0-0 2.6.3-1 The GLib library of C routines > ii libgtk2.0-0 2.6.2-4 The GTK+ graphical user > interface > ii libncurses5 5.4-4 Shared libraries for terminal > hand > ii libpango1.0-0 1.8.1-1 Layout and rendering of > internatio > ii libstdc++5 1:3.3.5-8 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 > ii libvte4 1:0.11.12-1 Terminal emulator widget for > GTK+ > ii libx11-6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 X Window System protocol client > li > ii libxft2 2.1.2-6 FreeType-based font drawing > librar > ii libxml2 2.6.16-4 GNOME XML library > ii libxrender1 0.8.3-7 X Rendering Extension client > libra > ii scrollkeeper 0.3.14-9.1 A free electronic cataloging > syste > ii xlibs 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 X Keyboard Extension (XKB) > configu > ii zlib1g 1:1.2.2-3 compression library - runtime > > -- no debconf information > -- Linux is not The Answer.
