Somehow the /usr/share/applications directory is no longer created
when building the vim package, so copying the desktop file failed:

cp: cannot create regular file
`/build/buildd/vim-6.3/debian/vim-gnome/usr/share/applications/gvim.desktop':
No such file or directory

It's fixed in svn, the desktop files will reappear in 1:6.3-068+5.

Thanks for reporting!

There are already mime files for all vim packages available in
/usr/lib/mime/packages/vim.
