Package: gauche-dev Version: 0.8.3-1 Description: Development files for Gauche This package contains development files of Gauche.
this description is inadequate because it fails to answer the key question "what the hell is gauche?". descriptions should provide enough information for someone who has never encountered the package before to decide whether they want to install it or not. that requires telling them something about the package. the desc is also inadequate because it doesn't tell the user anything that they don't already know - any debian user knows that "-dev" packages contain development files. it's as useless as a description for package "foo" saying "this package contains the program foo" without bothering to describe what foo is or does. solution: cut and paste the description field from the main gauche package (or a minimal extract thereof) into the description for gauche-dev. NOTE: same problem applies to gauche-doc. telling the user only that a -doc package contains documentation is worthless. craig -- craig sanders <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> (part time cyborg) my postfix scripts are at http://taz.net.au/postfix/scripts/ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
