This is a problem within hal, so reassigning. Could you please test the following and confirm that it solves your problem: - Open /usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/10osvendor/20-storage-methods.fdi - Goto line 183 (<match key="volume.fstype" string="ntfs">) - Add a line <append key="volume.mount.valid_options" type="strlist">utf8</append> - Restart hal (/etc/dbus-1/event.d/20hal restart).
