Package: devscripts Version: 2.10.3 Severity: wishlist File: /usr/bin/bts reportbug supports talking directly to bugs.debian.org via SMTP, so I don't need a local sendmail. However, bts seems to require a sendmail command, so to make it usable, I had to use a BTS_SENDMAIL_COMMAND that does "ssh somewhere /usr/sbin/sendmail -t". This takes longer (reportbug finishes almost instantly, while bts takes a few seconds), doesn't let me use bts from machines where I don't have my SSH private key, and required manual configuration. The defaults for reportbug, on the other hand, provide good support for users that don't run a local mail server.
Please consider supporting direct SMTP to bugs.debian.org.
