I think you're assuming too much. It would only add a few words to the -wholename description to mention that "shell pattern" means "fnmatch" instead of having to hunt all over the man page. I don't think man pages should value brevity about all else, they should allow the user to find what they need to know as quickly as possible, which is a different goal.
