The main problem was that I removed the package and reinstalled it and it did not (re) create the postgres catalog database. I mentioned the files in /etc only as a clue to what was going on. The secondary problem was that running dpkg-reconfigure did not work either. dpkg-reconfigure also got stuck in a loop where it wouldn't abort. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
