Okay; I'm actually going to leave it opened, since when I try to reproduce it, I get:
Core was generated by `/var/lib/dpkg/tmp.ci/preinst install'. and not "by `dpkg --unpack -D3 ...deb". This may well be due to some dpkg or gdb change.
