git-fetch(1) states that there exists an option -q for git-fetch, but git errors if I give this option to fetch. To fix it, you could cherry-pick a858c006fae17 == tags/v1.5.2-rc0~70^2 (or revert 42905294de). (Actually this is not a patch, but IMHO it's as good.)
