I am not done using lessdisks, and ltsp has not proved a viable substitution for me. Please let it hang in unstable for a while still. The RC bugs are related to changes in initial ramdisk generators, of which I maintain one of them. So the software itself is not broken, only it is not currently appropriate to include it with an official Debian release. Upstream abandoning the software does not mean the software is unusable. If (or when, hopefully) I find time to fix the (relatively small) changes needed to get it into releasable shape, I intend to take over as new upstream.
