first of all, could you please provide the log file as attachment next
time. It makes the email a bit hard to read pasting the 300kb log
directly int othe body.

Detached doesn't mean, it didn't start. After starting, is there no
running hald process (ps aux | grep hal)?

Is your kernel lacking inotify support? Could you please try an official
Debian kernel and test again.
