This has been requested before, see bug 395124 (I will merge your report
with this one).

Have you tried metacity with the composite function? I'm curious if it's
at all useful. I don't think there has been much work done on it?

Sorry for the duplicate.
I haven't tested it by myself, but I heard that if the feature is enabled you
can set the gnome-terminal translucent from the menu (Edit -> Current Profile,
same as beryl). Since I am only interested in this composite feature, so I think
it could be useful for those people who likes translucent for the
terminal window
but not the other effects. thanks alot!
