Package: uim
Severity: important

Hello!

There have been a number of bug reports about Firefox crashing (or
better: about it freezing) the whole X session if uim / uim-xim packages
have been installed and have been actived by issueing ``sudo im-switch -s
uim'' or similar.

The conclusion from the reports (<http://bugs.debian.org/366390>,
<http://bugs.debian.org/377808>, <http://bugs.debian.org/412053>) was to
have `GTK_IM_MODULE' and `QT_IM_MODULE' set to `uim' instead of `xim'.

I just confirmed that this _does_ indeed fix the unbearable situation for
Firefox.

But now I wonder why this still hasn't been changed in Debian then?
`/etc/X11/xinit/xinput.d/uim' still makes those environment variables
contain `xim'.

Regards,
 Thomas
