is there any kerning at all for non freetype clients ? gfontview is pre xft2 and latex non freetype2 ... I am also interested in this issue. Does it means that we cannot have the "same" result for scalable fonts under X with Xft2/freetype2 and the others outputs (print, dvi, prefXft clients ) ?
