I have to raise this up here, because it gets more and more common to
run dh_desktop if the package contains a .desktop file. Everything
dh_desktop does is, that it adds an update-desktop-database call to the
maintainer scripts in _every_ case. Unfortunately this is only useful,
if the .desktop file contains a MimeType field. In every other case,
running update-desktop-database just rebuilds the existing database
without the necessity to do this. Because it wasts time and resources I
hereby request to check all .desktop files in /usr/share/applications
for the MimeType field, before the maintainer-script code for
update-desktop-database is added.

If I find some time, I will provide a patch.
