The attached autopasswd script, from the examples of the expect program, demonstrates the problem. autopasswd is aimed to be used like this (as root): autopasswd <user> <password> to automatically setup <password> as new password for <user> When used, it appears to "hang" and finally does not do the job because indeed passwd prompts before being ready to receive the user input.
