Package: iproute Version: 20070313-1 Severity: minor If I remove a primary address, iproute also deletes all secondary addresses within the same CIDR network. This is not mentioned in the manpage.
It would be nice if the manpage would warn of/hint at that, and even better if it explained why this behaviour was chosen and why it cannot be turned off. I would wish for an option that simply promotes a secondary address to primary status when the primary is removed. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.21-1-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_GB, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages iproute depends on: ii libatm1 2.4.1-17 shared library for ATM (Asynchrono ii libc6 2.5-11 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libdb4.3 4.3.29-8 Berkeley v4.3 Database Libraries [ iproute recommends no packages. -- debconf-show failed -- .''`. martin f. krafft <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> : :' : proud Debian developer, author, administrator, and user `. `'` http://people.debian.org/~madduck - http://debiansystem.info `- Debian - when you have better things to do than fixing systems
