That's the solution. I have dvipdfmx.cfg because I have the dvipdfmx package installed. From my point of view it is a bug in the texlive packages that they leave xdvipdfmx, which is crucial for xetex, without proper configuration file. I don't know what a good solution here would be, since both dvipdfmx and xdvipdfmx need this configuration file. Maybe texlive-xetex should depend on dvipdfmx? > Would you recommend an apt-get remove --purge of texlive-full and a clean > re-install? No, this would not help. Just install the dvipdfmx package and everything should work. cheerio ralf -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.18-4-686 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages texlive-xetex depends on: ii libc6 2.3.6.ds1-13 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libfontconfig1 2.4.2-1.2 generic font configuration library ii libfreetype6 2.2.1-5+etch1 FreeType 2 font engine, shared lib ii libkpathsea4 2007-11.np.etch.1 TeX Live: path search library for ii libpng12-0 1.2.15~beta5-1 PNG library - runtime ii libpoppler0c2 0.4.5-5.1 PDF rendering library ii texlive-base 2007-9 TeX Live: Essential programs and f ii texlive-common 2007-9 TeX Live: Base component ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3-13 compression library - runtime texlive-xetex recommends no packages.
