Can I request a severity bump please.
This issue isn't limited to the Debian packages. Building from GIT
(pre-0.9.40) has the same issues but it seems to have escalated more.
Virtually no applications seem to be able to access the network at all
any more. Programs like STEAM fail to contact the network and thus wont
work. Using Wine's own inbuilt browser (IE replacement) - wine iexplore
http://winehq.org - also loads up then complains that it cannot find the
site meaning any sites that rely on IE to run to access any sites also
will not work.
I've been discussing this with lots of people and this only seems to be
a problem on Debian. No other distros are having this issue so I believe
it may be an issue with a package in Debian Sid causing it. For this
reason no bug has been opened on Wine's own site until it can be shown
that it's a Wine issue and not a Debian one.
Another note is that something needs to be done about this before it
spreads. If this package filters down into more "stable" Debian releases
and Ubuntu then all hell is going to let loose and it's not going to be
fun trying to clean up the WineHQ bug tracker when that happens.
For the record I am also on x86_64 Debian Sid and so is my laptop, both
machines exhibit the same behaviour.
