Package: pcmciautils
Version: 014-3
Severity: normal

I have 2 laptops, on one pcmcia compact flash adapters and microdrives
work, on the other they used to work but no longer do. Both laptops are
running Debian unstable; the working laptop is an older fujitsu
lifebook, while the newer is a p7120 lifebook.

On the working lifebook:

Socket 0 Bridge: [yenta_cardbus] (bus ID: 0000:00:0c.0)
Socket 0 Device 0: [pata_pcmcia] (bus ID: 0.0)
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/>pccardctl status
Socket 0:

Subdevice 0 (function 0) bound to driver "pata_pcmcia"

Socket 0:
product info: "RENESAS", "FLASH", "5.0", ""
  manfid: 0x0007, 0x0000
  function: 4 (fixed disk)

On the failing lifebook:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~>lspcmcia
Socket 0 Bridge: [yenta_cardbus] (bus ID: 0000:06:03.0)
Socket 0 Device 0: [-- no driver --] (bus ID: 0.0)
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~>pccardctl status
Socket 0:
  3.3V 16-bit PC Card
  Subdevice 0 (function 0) [unbound]
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~>pccardctl ident
Socket 0:
  no product info available

This is the same card in both cases. Both machines are running the same udev
version, and the same kernel:
Linux dragon 2.6.21-1-686 #1 SMP Sat May 26 16:14:59 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux
I also tried 2.6.20 and 2.6.21-2-686 on the failing machine, without better
luck.

These cards have worked ok in this laptop before, as recently as a couple
of months ago (which the 2.6.20 kernel should predate), so I'm not sure what
changed. It could even be some weird kind of hardware failure, I suppose.
Wanted to file this and see if you had any thoughs on debugging.

Here's the working dmesg:

And the failing:
