Then what this preinst message is for? Starting from 2.4.0-1, the INN package is compiled with the --enable-largefiles options, which enables support for files larger than 2 GB. This also means that upgrading to it requires rebuilding the history index and the overview database. The post-installation script will try to do it, but if you have a large spool it will take a very long time.
