Just FYI, you could install python2.4-dbg to have a more detailed
backtrace (which I did, I'm not asking you to report back ;-)).

I'm not sure that python2.4 is the direct cause, the above-mentioned
binary might have been compiled with different options and so on.

I'll keep you posted once I've figured out what's happening.
