Are you running KDE when starting compiz? I can't reproduce this problem here from Gnome. Can you try without KDE? Does it help if you install gnome-themes or gtk2-engines? compiz-gtk suggests gnome-themes, might be the reason. > also windows miss borders and cannot be moved/resized by this > Your window decorator didn't start properly.
