Package: tcpdump Version: 3.9.5-2 Severity: important
When tcpdump is used with the -Z <username> option and the -w/-W options to cycle the logs, the initial file is created as root regardless of the user specified in the -Z option. All further files seem to be created properly, just not the initial file, bascically negating any security benifit of using the -Z option. -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.18-bs2 Locale: LANG=en_CA.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_CA.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages tcpdump depends on: ii libc6 2.3.6.ds1-13 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libpcap0.8 0.9.5-1 System interface for user-level pa ii libssl0.9.8 0.9.8c-4 SSL shared libraries tcpdump recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
