Please build the next upload of gst-plugins-base0.10
with --with-install-plugins-helper="/usr/bin/gnome-codec-install".
This enabled the automatic codec search and installation feature
as found in Ubuntu.
You can do this even before gnome-app-install is in unstable,
as nothing happens if gnome-app-install is not installed.
