no, nobody replied yet.
the switch was discussed on #d-boot and bubulle agreed to proceed.

The long term goal for g-i is to cover as many languages as possible with
Dejavu for a few reasons:

 - Dejavu is a very active project 
 - quality of glyphs is very good 
 - unicode coverage is excellent
 - consistency is excellent when mixing latin glyphs with other non-latin glyphs

note that it took more than a year before Georgian was merged into Dejavu trunk
and I'm sure switching is safe.

For the above reason I think it is good to change things early in this Lenny 
release cycle
and eventually fix problems in dejavu directly.

If you prefere we could leave this BR open and I can take care of forwarding
here feedback messages on the subject before closing the BR.
