additional info: we currently discovered that the problem does have nothing common with permissions, the problems is still there. It appears when vim tries to save backup file (filename.ext~).
We tried running curlftpfs with -d and -o debug, the error appears after function call RENAME. We tried to add option -o ftpfs_debug, but we got error "unkown fuse option". libcurl3 version: 7.16.4-1 -- Adam Boháč
