Package: dvgrab
Version: 2.1-2
Severity: important

I'm sorry if this should have been a wishlist bug, I couldn't decide.

As of kernel 2.6.22, according to bug #436267 which I opened on the
kernel, the reason that /dev/raw1394 doesn't exist is because the Debian
kernel folks aren't building the module raw1394 any more. Which means
in order to use dvgrab, people have to custom compile a kernel.

Like I said, not sure if this is critical, since dvgrab doesn't work
any more with the Debian kernels, or if it's wishlist because it would
be nice if dvgrab used whatever it is that is being built into the
kernels now.

The camera shows up, this is what dmesg shows when I power it on:
--------------------
firewire_core: phy config: card 0, new root=ffc1, gap_count=5
firewire_core: phy config: card 0, new root=ffc1, gap_count=5
firewire_core: created new fw device fw1 (0 config rom retries)
--------------------
maybe there is something there for dvgrab to use.

Curt-
