OK - I guess I don't like it because Mac OS X and Windows do nothing of the sort and it takes long enough to resume from suspend in Debian as-is. I understand the security risk - it definitely seems worthwhile to do this if your system is being left in a public place - though it becomes less of a concern if this isn't the case. In any case, it would be nice to have this as a GUI-configurable option in g-p-m - the gconf key will do for now, though... Thanks for responding, though...
