FWIW, if you've got the cycles, try a 1.2 branch nightly tarball (i.e., they're what will eventually become 1.2.4):

    http://www.open-mpi.org/nightly/v1.2/

That way, if there's still a problem, we potentially still have [a little] time to fix it before 1.2.4.
