i'm using the proprietary nvidia driver from the nvidia-glx package. i
installed the free nv(idia) driver, which is included in xorg, but i
get the same result. maybe it's not the driver's fault, but xorg's
composite implementation?

trying to track down the bug, i did some further tests:

just for fun i tried compiz as composite manager on top of the closed
nvidia driver. result: garbled screen.

afaik, galeon and iceweasle use the same rendering backend, that's why i
installed iceweasel. result: garbled screen.

i'm sorry, i've got only access to machines with nvidia cards. maybe we
could exclude the graphics drivers, if there was evidence that the bug
can be reproduced with every graphics driver?

cheers - fuddl
