Since your binding is linked with 5.1 I suggest you to put this fact in the description of the package. Then, if you 'require "gv"' from lua, it looks for a gv.so that defines a function luaopen_gv in /usr/lib/lua/5.1/ so I suggest you to put a symlink here.
