Package: libexif-dev
Severity: wishlist

I'm looking for a free software tool available on Linux to write GPX
coordinate information into my JPEG images. I want something like
EXIFutil[1] or gpsphotolinker[2], making it possible to store
geographical location into the image, and adding map references to the
photo album. I got a GPX file with timestamps and location, and want
to match the timestamps with the image timestamp to be able to store
the GPS location into the images.

I'm not sure if libexif-dev is the right package for this wishlist bug
report, but hoped it could be a starting point. Feel free to reassign
this bug if there is another package more suited for this task. I
considered reporting it to libkexif1-dev, as it claim to be able to
edit EXIF tags, but decided against it as it also claim to be KDE
specific and I want a command line/scriptable solution.

I was able to find some information about the GPS EXIF tags[3][4], but
am not sure about the specification. [4] claim that the GPS EXIF tag
is part of EXIF 2.1, and I found some notes about that in addition to
a proposal for an extention to the EXIF 2.1 GPS format[5].
