I tried with debian mercurial, but it did not work out of the box.

when is the next mercurial release planned for ?

http://www.selenic.com/mercurial/wiki/index.cgi/RoadMap only mentions
1.0 and has no target date for it.

I will try to find time to backport 'record' to 0.9.4 and let you know
when I am done, but can't commit to a date at the moment.
