I wouldn't call it correct, but yes, it's the same problem and I'm
suggesting the first solution. Since Debian has a fixed place for all
those stuff, a Debian system has no need for dependencies on executable
positions. 

On the other hand the value of $SELFAUTOPARENT seems to be wrong, too. As it is
intended to provide a pointer to a directory, where other files can be
found.
