I'm encountering the same crash in other applications, most notably Google Earth.
I'm encountering the GE crash only in dual-head (xinerama) mode, not single head. This makes me strongly suspect that this bug is misclassified WRT xscreensaver and that the actual culprit is either the MesaGL / LibGL library package, or my X.org driver(s) and/or the fglrx drivers I've added.
