This appears to be more of a usability problem than a bug. I believe you will
find that if the XMMS2 daemon is running, everything works fine. You can
start it with "xmms2-launcher" on the command line (also, some other XMMS2
clients support starting a daemon).
It is possible you don't actually have xmms2d installed (abraca can control
remote daemons and doesn't depend on a local daemon). Install the "xmms2"
package if you have no command "xmms2-launcher".
